This intensive 30-hour programme is designed to prepare eligible electrical professionals for the Wireman’s Licence Examination administered by the Government Electrical Inspectorate (G.E.I.).
Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive a Certificate of Completion from NESC Technical Institute.

Who Should Attend?
This programme is intended for persons preparing to undertake the Wireman’s Licence Examination.
Candidates must possess a Diploma in Electrical, NESC-TI Craftsman Certificate in Electrical Installation, or an equivalent qualification.
What You’ll Cover
The programme provides focused preparation in key areas required for the Wireman’s Licence Examination and professional electrical practice, including:
- Electrical Theory, Calculations & Measurements – A.C. and D.C. circuits, electrical measurements and calculations.
- Electrical Codes & Regulatory Requirements – The Electricity (Inspection) Act and Regulations of Trinidad and Tobago, TTBS 171 requirements and the T&TEC Light and Power Handbook.
- Electrical Drawings & Wiring Systems – Interpretation of electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, symbols and specifications for residential, commercial and industrial installations.
- Loads, Generators, Solar PV & Power Factor Calculations – Connected loads, generator selection, solar photovoltaic system sizing and power factor correction.
- Transformers – Operating principles and applications of buck-boost, step-up and step-down transformers.
- Inspection, Testing, Fault Diagnosis & Safety – Electrical inspection and testing, safe work practices, troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
- Earthing, Bonding & Overcurrent Protection – Principles governing the design, installation, testing and operation of electrical installations.
- G.E.I. Documentation & Licensing Procedures – Preparation of documentation required for electrical inspections, testing, certification and licensing.
- Wireman’s Licence Examination Readiness – Focused preparation to strengthen the knowledge, practical competence and professional conduct required for the examination.
The programme outcomes also cover the application of TTBS 171 standards, NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements where applicable, electrical safety, testing instruments and the diagnosis and rectification of common electrical faults.
