NESC Technical Institute (NESC-TI) has launched an exciting new scholarship programme in Renewable Energy Technology Services (RETS). This initiative aims to give Trinidad and Tobago nationals the skills they need to thrive in the growing renewable energy industry.
The RETS scholarship reflects NESC-TI’s commitment to preparing the country’s workforce for careers in renewable energy – a critical sector for the future.
Launch Event
The RETS programme was officially launched on 3rd February 2025 at NESC-TI’s Point Lisas Campus. The event was attended by:
- The Honourable Stuart Young, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries
- Executives from leading energy companies
- Industry stakeholders
- The 12 students selected for the first year of the scholarship programme
This marks the start of an exciting journey for these scholarship recipients, who are set to become future leaders in the renewable energy sector.

What the Programme Offers
The RETS scholarship programme provides a comprehensive curriculum focusing on key areas of renewable energy, such as:
- Photovoltaic (Solar) Technology
- Wind Turbine Systems
- Hydrogen and Geothermal Energy
- Electrical Installation
- Entrepreneurship and Business Development
- Project Management
Graduates will be well-prepared for various career paths in renewable energy and can pursue industry-recognised certifications to boost their career prospects.

Partnering for Success
This scholarship is made possible thanks to the generous support of Atlantic LNG Company of Trinidad and Tobago and Trinidad Generation Unlimited, who have partially funded the tuition for the first 12 students.
Additionally, RESSCOTT Ltd, a local renewable energy services company, will offer these students internships during the July/August break.
