This course presents students with the knowledge required to successfully diagnose and service this latest addition to the automotive industry - in hands-on format. Participants will be exposed to the most advanced and comprehensive technical training programme available to aftermarket repair shops in compliance with industry standards and occupational safety and health requirements.
Students are required to complete three 4-hour weekday sessions, for a total of 12 contact hours.

All programmes include theory and relevant practicals.
Graduates will receive an NESC Certificate of Completion which can allow for direct entry into NESC's 1 year Level II Programmes.
Hybrid vehicles present an exciting challenge and opportunity in the automotive service industry. Hybrids take many forms and incorporate many new technologies and never before seen systems. Many components originally designed for use in the 42 volt system are being put to use in the much higher voltage hybrid vehicles. Fuel cell equipped hybrids are a reality and are almost ready for production. Improvements in battery design and chemistry has breathed new life into PHEV’s, or Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicles. This is the first in a series of courses designed to present you with the knowledge required to successfully diagnose and service this latest addition to the automotive industry. This course will cover material in a hands-on format and participants are expected to attend class and arrive on time.

Upon successful completion of this programme the participant should be able to perform the following outcomes:
Outcome: Describe safety concerns while using tools and equipment when servicing hybrid vehicles.
Outcome: Identify the types of powertrain designs used.
Outcome: Describe the types of motors/generators used.
Outcome: Describe operations specific to hybrid vehicles.
Outcome: Describe basic maintenance services necessary on Hybrid vehicles.
Outcome: Use new hybrid diagnostic trouble codes and procedures.
