Electricial Diploma

2 Years (full-time)

This course provides students with the knowledge and skill required to install, maintain and repair electrical systems in both domestic and industrial properties. It includes planning, layout and installation of wiring, electrical fixtures, panels, cable trays etc. Emphasis is placed on the proper use of tools and safe work practices.

Entry Requirements

Prerequisites:
  • FIVE CSEC Subjects: Math, English, Physics AND Any other two CXC Subjects
    Persons with the NEC Craft Certificate in Electrical Installation, CSEC Math and any combination of CSEC Subjects are encouraged to apply.
  • Mature students with appropriate qualifications and experience.
  • Be sixteen (16) years or older.
  • Pass an interview.
  • Pass a Drug Test at their cost.

Registration Fee: $500 (non refundable)

Graduates will receive an NESC Diploma (and will be eligible to pursue the NESC Journeyman qualification and the Trades Professional Certificate (Red Deer College (RDC), Alberta, Canada)).

The following are the primary objectives of the Electrician Technician Programme:

  • Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of electrical theory and its application to lighting, power and control equipment.
  • Layout and install the various electrical circuits in residential, commercial, industrial and institutional complexes and buildings.
  • Be capable of trouble shooting and maintaining electrical systems and equipment.
  • Competently use the test instruments and various tools necessary to perform tasks.
  • Perform assigned tasks in accordance with production standards required by industry.
