This course is designed to cover the range of skills required to maintain or renovate the plumbing of commercial and residential properties. It offers comprehensive training using a hands-on approach. This course targets persons wishing to enter the plumbing trade but who may have very little, if any, experience in the field.
The Machine Shop course impacts the skills and knowledge necessary to function as a machinist in the automotive and industrial machine shop environments. The skills acquired enable students to work on a variety of machines including lathes, milling and precision grinding machines.

This course offers practical and theoretical training in Pipefitting and Fabrication. Students are taught to install and repair piping or tubing systems which transport liquid, gas and occasionally solid material. This course involves selecting and preparing pipe and tubing, joining them together by various means as well as locating and repairing leaks. Students are exposed to all major aspects of the occupational area.
This course teaches persons the skills necessary to install, diagnose and repair Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration systems for both commercial and residential buildings. Trainees will be able to run start up systems, test lines to detect leaks and record the readings taken to ensure that the system is functioning satisfactorily. This course provides students with the knowledge and skill required to install, maintain and repair electrical systems in both domestic properties. It includes planning, layout and installation of wiring, electrical fixtures, panels, cable trays etc. Emphasis is placed on the proper use of tools and safe work practices. Graduates will be skillful in the fusing of metals using prescribed welding applications and be able to recognize defective welds, know the cause and proper procedure for the repair of the defective area. They will be able to execute assigned tasks in accordance with production standards required by industry. Also available at NESC's Goldsborough, Tobago campus.

The Rig Mechanic programme is specifically designed to equip graduates with the technical knowledge and skill required of a Rig Mechanic, to competently perform routine and non-routine maintenance on the Drilling Rig. This course is offered exclusively at NESC's Drilling Academy, Ste. Madeline.

Graduates will have a thorough knowledge of the principle components of refrigeration systems, heat/cool units and air conditioning electrical and automatic controls. They will be capable of assembling, installing or overhauling all components and be proficient in the use of test instruments. After completing this course students are able to apply their knowledge of the installation, and service of HVAC systems in accordance with standards for the industry.
