Student Affairs Officer

Student Affairs Officer

The incumbent is required to promote the NESC and its program offerings, act as a first point of contact for students requiring wide and varied support on a range of social, personal and educational issues, and facilitate industry placement activities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Recruit trainees to fill capacity at assigned campuses
  2. Research and analyze industry needs for skilled personnel/graduates/trainees and prepare appropriate recommendations
  3. Establish and maintain partnerships and alliances with business, industry, community and public interest groups for the benefit of trainees.
  4. Deliver Life Skills Training.
  5. Undertake trainee assessments to determine aptitude, achievement, personality, abilities, education, social and emotional capabilities, physical and mental impairments, and develop appropriate recommendations
  6. Conduct career guidance seminars and workshops to provide a positive learning experience, including on course selection, school adjustment, study habits, career planning, job orientation and workplace attitude
  7. Develop and deliver individualized and group counselling sessions for trainees to address behavioural or academic challenges, identifying goals and steps for achieving them
  8. Liaise with and provide guidance for parents in supporting trainee progress
  9. Liaise with relevant staff regarding social or behavioural issues or changes affecting student performance as appropriate
  10. Provide support in the implementation of Trainee Disciplinary Action and respective Procedures.
  11. Maintain confidential files and progress notes on participants
  12. Plan and conduct tracer studies
  13. Promote NESC and its program offerings
  14. Plan and coordinate extracurricular activities for students
  15. Place successful students into industry opportunities and coordinate associated services
  16. Provide feedback from stakeholders to assist in NESC’s continuous improvement activities
  17. Undertake related duties as required

Janitor/Handyman

The incumbent is required to provide efficient and effective general maintenance support to the Campus, ensuring the general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas are maintained in accordance with required standards. Services are to be delivered on a routine, ad-hoc or project basis, and the incumbent is expected to observe safe working practices and ensure that instructions specified by technical consultants, contractors and manufacturers are adhered to.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Prioritize and undertake basic improvement/maintenance works around the designated facility, including painting and decorating, joinery and plumbing
  2. Clean light fittings and test lighting systems in accordance with required schedule, replacing minor parts such as tubes, bulbs, fuses, starters and diffusers as required, in accordance with safe working practices
  3. Undertake basic cleaning and adjustment of air conditioning equipment
  4. Monitor equipment and facilities, maintaining appropriate records and readings as required. Report problems requiring major repairs
  5. Observe precautions to protect employee and company property.
  6. Monitor the physical and functional state of general equipment and furniture. Report faults, damage, theft or found items
  7. Clear blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets, drains, kitchen grease traps etc. and clean up spillages as required
  8. Ensure that gullies, drains and drainage systems are free from debris and that all access routes and grass/lawns are appropriately maintained and litter free
  9. Empty waste receptacles and dispose of waste in a safe, hygienic manner as required
  10. Undertake porterage tasks, including set up and clearing away of furniture and equipment, and set up or relocation of workspaces
  11. Monitor for pests and exterminate insects/rodents as required
  12. Assist with the cleaning of buildings and their associated contents so that health standards are met
  13. Sanitise equipment and work areas using appropriate supplies and sterilising equipment
  14. Ensure appropriate stock of maintenance supplies: perform stock checks, prepare orders, receive and verify goods, secure goods, record expenditures

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Processing of Monthly salaries for Full Time employees (Co. I) to be paid by the 25th of each month - Calculating & Verifying Full Time Employees part time lecturing & overtime claims, Gratuity, No pay, Extra Duty Allowances, Acting Allowances & any other additions, deduction or any other prorated calculations.
  2. Preparation of the Monthly Payroll Reconciliation after submission of salaries electronically, copy & submit the Monthly Payroll Reconciliation to the Payables Clerk for all deduction cheques to be generated.
  3. Print all supporting documentation with a breakdown by Company Name which entails Employee name & Premium (s), copy cheques & file with receipts or stamped receipts.
  4. Emailing of pay slips on a monthly basis one (1) day after Full Time Salaries are transferred.
  5. Completion of monthly reports -Benefit summary – Co I.
  6. Entering of Monthly Gratuity & Medical Monthly Journals before the 5th of the following month.
  7. Exportation & Reconciling of the Monthly Journal before the 5th of the following month.
  8. Prepare monthly NIS & BIR Reconciliation for Payment with the Full Time Payroll’s respective amounts.
  9. Printing & stamping of NI184’s for– Monthly N.I.S Payments for payment before the 15th of each month.
  10. Preparation of annual Tax Declaration Form (TD 4) for each individual and summary for submission to the Board of Inland Revenue.
  11. File all journals in the Payroll Department, appropriately in the relevant folders.
  12. Assist with the preparation of schedules for the audit.
  13. Copy documentation for the audit folder as necessary.
  14. Assist with the follow up actions from the external auditor.
  15. Perform all duties in compliance with HSSE & ISO standards as specified by the HSSE & ISO departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. In accordance with Bloom's taxonomy cognitive domain, develop multiple-choice items testing course objectives outlined in NESC Diploma Programme curriculum using the course material provided.
  2. Draw upon expert knowledge of in the specified course area to create item stems and answer options that are clear, readable, and accurate.
  3. For each item developed, identify the relevant course unit, objective, level of difficulty (Bloom's taxonomy) and keywords.
  4. Independently evaluate test items for creativity, clarity, content alignment, appropriateness,fairness, and quality.
  5. Revise items based on feedback from item reviewers.
