Industrial Mechanical Maintenance

The Industrial Mechanical Maintenance programme provides participants with the skills required by plant maintenance personnel in the maintenance and repairs of mechanical equipment used in the Petrochemical industry. The programme includes alignment methods of pumps and other rotating equipment, rigging, operations, repairs of pumps, gearboxes
and compressors. The programme also includes development of preventative maintenance programmes related theory and the application of OSHA regulations and other applicable codes or standards.

Industrial Construction Electrical Installation

Construction Electrical Installation entails planning, layout and installation of wiring, electrical fixtures, panels, cable trays, splicing, wire-pulling, apparatus and control equipment. Additionally, it includes blueprint reading and diagrams, safe work habits, proper selection and use of hand / power tools, communications, applicable codes and precision measurement.

Carbon Steel Welding (SMAW)

Shielding Metal Arc Welding entails fillet and groove welds on plate and 6" carbon steel pipe in accordance with ASME Section IX and AWSD 1.1. code. It also includes measurement, layout, blueprint reading, safe work habits, basic electricity, materials and metallurgy, quality control, inspection methodology and communications. Successful graduates are code certified.

Advanced Welding (GTAW)

Advanced Welding entails grooved welds on alloy plate, 2" carbon steel pipe and 4" stainless pipe using Tungsen Inert Gas Welding. It also includes measurement, layout, blueprint reading, isometric and P & ID reading, safe work habits, basic electricity, materials and metallurgy, quality control, inspection methodology and communications. Successful graduates are code certified in accordance with ASME Section IX.

Pipefitting / Fabrication

Pipefitting is the fit-up and assembly of all diameter pipes and fittings, e.g. pipe hangers, pipe racks etc. as found in petrochemical plants and manufacturing facilities. Fabrication focuses on the assembly of materials such as plate, sheet, angle iron. I-beams, bars etc. It also includes blueprint reading, isometric and P & ID readings, care and use of hand power tools, arc welding, flame cutting, safe work habits, communications and ANSI B3.3 code application.
